Arborist Grounds Person

HML Group is a highly reputable landscape design and construction contractor that works in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove and other areas of Alberta. We provide high-end landscape design, arborist and construction services to residential, municipal and commercial clients as well as grounds maintenance services.


Were looking for someone who is creative, self-motivated, organized and excellent attention to detail to join our local business that is growing quickly.


Responsibilities:

  • 50 - 75 % travel away from home required,
  • Operate self - propelled equipment including a stump grinder and chipper truck.
  • Use small equipment such as chainsaws, brush saws, drills in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure it is in proper working order and meets operational and safety standards.
  • Control lowering ropes.
  • Provide tools to tree workers working at heights.
  • Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed by use of warning devices.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance inspections on equipment.
  • Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
  • Complete proper job site cleanup.
  • Assist other crew members in performing job duties.
  • Perform arboricultural work including vegetation pruning and removals.
  • Use and share knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and code, follow safety guidelines, identify potential hazardous situations and adapt appropriately.


Qualifications:

  • Mature, reliable, physically fit, hands on and able to perform field work at a high standard
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain written time records, and work order documents
  • Ability to multi-task and focus on priorities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude would be an asset
  • Must follow the company's HSE program and complete all documentation required
  • Valid drivers license (with clean drivers abstract)
  • Over the age of 25 years old (for fleet insurance purposes)
  • Experience operating trucks and trailers
  • Ability to operate equipment such as a mini hoe/ skid steer is an asset
  • Be comfortable working in residential and city environments


SAFETY CERTIFICATIONS

  • CSTS 2020 (required)
  • ISA certification as asset but not required
  • Standard First Aid is an asset
