The Opportunity:<br>We are seeking a sharp, proactive Assistant Controller to partner directly with our Controller and help scale the financial operations of a rapidly growing facilities maintenance leader. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role perfect for someone who wants broad exposure, ownership of the close process, and a defined path to future leadership.<br><br>
Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Oversee and support core accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and general ledger.</li><li>Lead key portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and workpapers.</li><li>Prepare accurate internal financial reporting packages, KPI dashboards, variance analysis, and ad-hoc analyses for executive and operational leadership.</li><li>Maintain and enhance internal controls; ensure full compliance with GAAP and company policies.</li><li>Manage audit and tax preparation deliverables and serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.</li><li>Collaborate with operations on job costing, contract profitability, billing accuracy, and percentage-of-completion accounting.</li><li>Drive process improvement and system optimization initiatives (automation, ERP upgrades, workflow streamlining).<br><br></li></ul>
Qualifications & Skills:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.</li><li>1–3 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry).</li><li>CPA license or active candidacy strongly preferred.</li><li>Strong command of GAAP and standard accouting practices.</li><li>Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems such as Infor, QuickBooks, Miracle, NetSuite, Sage, or similar.</li><li>Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling).</li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines.</li><li>Excellent communication skills – comfortable presenting financial results to non-finance leaders.</li><li>Prior exposure to service industries, job costing, or percentage-of-completion accounting is a plus.<br><br></li></ul>
