Job Title: Long haul truck driver (NOC: 73300) Job Openings: 40 Type of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening Wage Offered: $36.60 hourly, Overtime rate $54.90 hourly after 60.00 hours per/week. Benefits: 4% vacation pay Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Education: Completion of Secondary School required. Language Requirement: Functional English including capability to understand road signs. Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class 1), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement required. Experience: Heavy duty driving experience is an asset, but not required. Main Duties: Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailor, long-combination vehicle and straight-body trucks weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over long distances Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers May perform emergency roadside repairs Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg or 10,000lbs with 3 axles), Tractor-trailer, Refrigerated, Highway. Type of Travel: This position is for Long-haul heavy truck driving, routes vary considerably; routes include travel through British Columbia, across Canada, and also in Western and Eastern United States. Documentation Skills: Applicants must be capable and or willing to learn how to use the following; bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection report, trans-border documentation, maintenance and repair reports. Communication Equipment: Applicants must be willing to learn how to use the following equipment; CB radio, Cellular phone, GPS equipment. Security and Safety: basic security clearances will be done, including: criminal record check, driving record check (abstract), medical exam, and/or drug test Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Job Location: Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia, V4N 4A8, Canada Other: Willing to travel all across Canada and the United States. Willing to travel by day/evening/night including travel on overnight routes, willing to travel for extended periods of time. Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must be willing to drive long haul trucks as a two person team. On The Job training for any applicants in Canada who hold a valid Class 1 Driver's License and who are successfully hired. Part-time or Flexible hours will be provided to any new driver, if qualified. $2500 for any successfully hired driver in Canada who wants to relocate to British Columbia from another province; and Permanent Full Time Job Offers will be made to qualified drivers.
