<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>The Care Group (“TCG”) offers high quality residential care services to complex care clients in nine (9) homes throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Based in Coquitlam, we are a privately owned and operated assisted living and complex care provider that offers both subsidized and private pay care. TCG is a fast-growing company with great opportunities for motivated team members.</p><p><b>THE OPPORTUNITY</b></p><p>We are looking for dedicated and conscientious <strong>Chef </strong><b>to join our The Mayfair team in Abbotsford, B.C.</b></p><p><strong>Shifts: Days - 40 hours / week.</strong></p><b>Summary of position:</b><br />To provide healthy meals to the residents and visitors at The Mayfair. <br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br />This individual works closely with the Director of Care and other department managers to:<ul><li>Plans and implements the four-week menu plan following sections 62, 63, 64, 65, 66 & 67 of Community Care and Assisted Living Act: Residential Care Regulation.</li><li>Maintains a safe, clean and organized kitchen and storage area abiding by Health and Safety Regulations.</li><li>Supervises and directs weekend Chef/Cook and Dietary Assistants/Kitchen Assistants.</li><li>Ensures compliance from other kitchen workers standards, policies and procedure of The Mayfair, Residential Care Regulations and Safe food handling.</li><li>Ensures the kitchen runs to times with having food prepared ready to serve following Community Care and Assisted Living Act: Residential Care Regulations.</li><li>Plans, prepares, cooks and serves meals at lunch and dinner time following the four-week menu plan or has a substitute meal in place.</li><li>Prepares meals for special diets (minced, puree, diabetic).</li><li>Ensures portions sizes are appropriated and requested taking in to consideration likes, dislikes and allergies according to individual nutrition plans.</li><li>Orders supplies weekly.</li><li>Communicates with Director of Care any other supplies needed in the kitchen (not food).</li><li>Ensure maintenance of equipment and promptly organizes for equipment to be seen if broken.</li><li>Maintains a record of temperature control for fridges, freezers and hot water (dishwasher), and keeps a log.</li><li>Maintains a log for the fat trap maintenance and emptying.</li><li>Interviews with Director of Care possible candidates for the kitchen.</li><li>Ensures a safe and secure environment in the kitchen and dining room for staff, residents and visitors.</li><li>Attends Occupational Health and Safety meetings once a month.</li><li>Participate and complete mandatory training and education.<ul><li>WHMIS</li><li>Violence Prevention</li><li>Hand Hygiene</li><li>Emergency Response</li></ul></li><li>Participate in annual performance reviews for kitchen staff and self.</li><li>Understand the policies and procedures.</li><li>Know where to find the policy and procedures binder.</li><li>Understand and follow the infection control and Occupational Health and Safety policies.</li><li>Understand the complaint procedure and refer all concerns to the leadership team.</li><li>Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe, home like environment for residents, visitors and staff.</li><li>Ensure the safety of yourself and others within the workplace.</li><li>Develop and maintain excellent standard and workplace best practice. </li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Red Seal approved Chef Education (Preferred).</li><li>Be eligible for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management as per section 44 (2) Community Care and Assisted Living Act: Residential Care Regulation.</li><li>Food Safe – Level One (Level Two preferred).</li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Abilities</strong></p><ul><li>Have the experience, competence and training necessary to ensure that food is safely prepared and handled and meets the nutrition needs of the resident in care.</li><li>Good written and verbal communication.</li><li>Demonstrates good time management.</li><li>Flexibility, can work independently.</li><li>Physically and mentally able to perform duties for above position.</li><li>Shows a caring and considerate attitude to resident, visitors and staff.</li></ul><p><br /><b>About Us</b><br><br>At The Mayfair Senior Living + Care we believe our residents deserve excellence in care and we strive to achieve this by working as a team towards our common goal: A happy and healthy resident.</p><p>We deliver person centered and best practice care in a respectful, caring and responsible manner by working together with our residents, their primary care givers, families, and The Fraser Health Authority.</p><p>The Mayfair is a 100 bed care community in an estate-like setting.</p><p><b><i>If this opportunity is not a fit for your background and experience </i></b><b><i>please feel free to forward to any interested colleagues</i></b><b>.</b></p><p><b>We invite interested candidates to submit their resume in confidence.
