A reputable real estate management firm is hiring a Commercial Property Accountant to join its growing finance team. This position offers exposure to a portfolio of commercial assets and is well-suited for accounting professionals looking to deepen their industry experience in a stable, collaborative environment.
About the Role
Reporting to a senior member of the finance department, this position will focus on the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties. You’ll contribute to accurate financial reporting, manage tenant billings, and support operational teams with timely financial insights.
What You’ll Do
- Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and variance analysis
- Manage tenant billings, recoveries, and lease-related accounting
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and subledgers
- Collaborate with property managers to support budgeting and forecasting
- Assist with year-end working papers and external audits
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial property accounting
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and lease structures
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in the real estate or property management industry is an asset
