The Corporate Accountant is responsible for general ledger and financial reporting functions, including but not limited to month-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation. The successful candidate will have some previous related accounting experience, such as general ledger, financial systems, financial report generation, balance sheet reconciliations and journal entry processing.

The position requires an individual who is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously or with the boarder leadership team to achieve the business and financial goals of the company.  

 

  

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities  

  

  • Own the monthly financial close process, including journal entry preparation, review of general ledger activity, and ensuring financial statement accuracy in accordance with accounting policies and GAAP
  • Prepare, produce, and distribute timely monthly financial statements and other internal financial reports as needed
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, documenting SOPs, and supporting audits by providing schedules and responding to requests
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, applying technical accounting knowledge and judgment to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Prepare variance analyses and related reporting
  • Process payroll and support related accounting activities
  • Act as a liaison with IT, Operations, and other corporate departments on projects, initiatives, and process improvements impacting the corporate accounting function
  • Support accounting system implementations, upgrades, and other software initiatives as required  

  

Education & Experience  

  

  • Associate degree or higher in Accounting
  • 3+ years of Accounting/Finance Experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Word/Excel, including a working knowledge of Excel actions (Pivot Tables, V-lookups etc.)
  • Ability to master financial systems and reporting tools (Great Plains/Management Reporter is an asset)

  

Knowledge, Skills and Proficiencies  

  

  • Technical accounting knowledge and ability to incorporate that knowledge and synthesize information into actionable recommendations and analysis
  • Good understanding of WIP Accounting
  • Detail oriented with excel ability to analyze data and circumstances
  • Business acumen, analytical and problem solving excels
  • Adaptable in using organizational skills to prioritize tasks and take ownership of work; comfort and ability to deliver results in a flexible, fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to anticipate busy schedules and communicate with other members of the team and/or department to complete assignments on time
  • Ability to effectively pace work to adhere to financial close deadlines and key deliverables
  • Demonstrated integrity in work product and commitment to accuracy
  • High sense of urgency
  • Ability to adhere to key financial controls in accordance with FASB, Sarbanes Oxley requirements and established corporate policy and procedure
  • Strong ability to work as a productive and positive team member
  • Superior communicational skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate and model company values with internal and external customers by providing a high level of customer service.

  

  

  

Compensation  

Compensation for this role is between $80 – 90,000 + benefits.
