<p>Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Reporting, the Director, External Reporting is a high-profile position and has oversight responsibility for the preparation and review of the financial statements, management discussion and analysis (MD&A), other public filings. This role is key in bringing together various business group to deliver best in class financial reports and analysis.</p>
<h3>What You’ll Do</h3>
<ul>
<li>Play a key role in setting strategic direction for the Finance group to meet current and future reporting needs.</li>
<li>Be a key driver to ensure Nutrien’s compliance with regulatory reporting requirements with a forward-thinking approach.</li>
<li>Partner with various groups to ensure that financial results are communicated consistently and convey a clear and concise message.</li>
<li>Lead the external reporting team and oversee the preparation and review of best-in-class quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A.</li>
<li>Provide thought leadership to the Finance and Reporting teams to help drive strategic business decisions and continuous improvements.</li>
<li>Put forward analysis and technical accounting advice for complex material transactions.</li>
<li>Understand and apply Nutrien’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.</li>
<li>Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team.</li>
<li>Communicate and deliver key messages to executive/senior leadership teams, Audit Committee and other business leaders via presentations and analysis.</li>
<li>Manage preparation, review and timely submission of other public filings (such as AIF, Proxy, prospectus) and other reporting requirements (pension financials, legal entity financials).</li>
<li>Provide recommendations to Finance group regarding best practices and enhancements to the financial reporting process and continuously look for automation and efficiencies.</li>
<li>Be a respected collaborator with external stakeholders including auditors, consultants and legal counsel.</li>
<li>Spearhead projects involving financial reporting and disclosures within the organization.</li>
<li>Provide financial support for key initiatives and special projects when identified.</li>
<li>Expert/go-to-person for financial and regulatory reporting requirements and compliance.</li>
</ul>
<h3>What You’ll Bring</h3>
<ul>
<li>Accounting Designation (CPA/CA).</li>
<li>15+ years of financial reporting experience in a large diversified public company or accounting firm.</li>
<li>World-class understanding of global public company accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Expert knowledge of IFRS and securities regulations in Canada and the US.</li>
<li>Broad understanding of the crop nutrients production and retail sectors and related business issues.</li>
<li>Experience managing, coaching and mentoring a team.</li>
<li>Ability to manage priorities and projects simultaneously and identify critical areas and issues.</li>
<li>Ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment.</li>
<li>Ability to influence a diverse group of people and implement change.</li>
<li>A drive for achievement and excellence.</li>
<li>Self-starter with high energy and result-oriented.</li>
<li>Excellent oral & written communication to convey technical and complex matters to diverse groups of people.</li>
<li>Very high attention to detail.</li>
<li>Sound, professional judgement.</li>
<li>Good understanding of US GAAP.</li>
<li>Knowledge of systems such as BPC and SAP DM or a similar tool is an asset.</li>
