<h3>Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officer</h3><p>Join to apply for the <strong>Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officer</strong> role at <strong>Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes</strong></p><p><strong>Overview</strong></p><p>As a member of the military, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officers maintain and support all Army equipment, as well as the land-based equipment of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force. They are commissioned members of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).</p><p>Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officers lead soldier technicians who keep equipment in top condition, working through all equipment life-cycle phases, from design, evaluation, and acquisition to in-service support and eventual disposal. They provide leadership and specialized engineering knowledge, leading teams of highly skilled technicians in Vehicle, Weapon, Electronic-Optronic, and Materials occupations.</p><p><strong>Work environment</strong></p><p>Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officers work in diverse environments, including bases, garrisons across Canada, and deployed operations worldwide. They may work outdoors in the field or during deployment. Typically, officers are posted to a large workshop, leading up to 30 technicians responsible for maintaining a wide range of equipment. They make technical, administrative, and training decisions under supervision. For those in the Regular Force, postings are generally to a base, with possible relocations. Primary Reserve members serve part-time at specific units, with flexible postings and opportunities for deployment.</p><p><strong>Entry plans</strong></p><ul><li>Direct Entry Options</li><li>Paid Education Options</li></ul><p>If you already hold a university degree, the CAF may place you directly into on-the-job training after basic training. Basic officer training lasts 12 weeks, covering military knowledge, leadership, regulations, weapons handling, and first aid. Following basic training, officers attend the Infantry School at Gagetown, NB, to develop leadership and tactical skills, then apply their engineering skills in maintenance operations, learning about combat vehicles, land weapons, sensors, and communications systems. Advanced training opportunities include specialized courses such as Ammunition Technical Officer, Nuclear Engineering, and Guided Weapons System.</p><p><strong>Part-time options</strong></p><p>Part-time employment is available through the Primary Reserve at various locations. Reserve members serve part-time, usually one night per week and some weekends, with pay and benefits comparable to the Regular Force.
