<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Simplot Canada (II) Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the J.R. Simplot Company. The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization with roots in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses. The J.R. Simplot Company is a farm-to-table company with operations that touch every aspect of agriculture, including seed production, farming and ranching, plant sciences, fertilizer manufacturing, food processing, commercial product development, and distribution.</p><p>The Project Engineer role will support Global Food through the execution of manufacturing capital projects. This role is located at the manufacturing facility, under direct supervision from the Director of Global Potato Project Engineering at Simplot WHQ. Projects include implementing new equipment or processes at the manufacturing facility or regional facilities, delivering value and sustaining operational capabilities for Global Food. Typical project value is under $2MM.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Work closely with plant and engineering leadership to develop and prioritize multiple capital projects as part of the annual capital program.</li><li>Develop capital program and individual project schedules, including budgeting, capital submittal development, procurement, detailed engineering design, execution, equipment commissioning, and startup phases of the project life cycle.</li><li>Lead the effort with multiple disciplinary resources to create a detailed project scope of work and cost estimate.</li><li>Track and manage action items to ensure on-time project deliverables.</li><li>Track and manage project budgets and develop project cash flow forecasts.</li><li>Collaborate with Technical Engineering as needed for larger and more complex projects.</li><li>Lead purchasing activities with internal departments (Procurement and Legal) to manage equipment purchases and service contracts.</li><li>Track and manage project purchasing logs; identify construction and installation contractor pool and work with procurement and legal to establish MSAs.</li><li>Review equipment contracts and align delivery dates with project schedule and execution plan.</li><li>Review and approve project invoices and process payments; manage budget change orders using change order management processes.</li><li>Review installation bid packages and manage bidding with procurement as required.</li><li>Work with vendors and contractors to develop start-up support plans; identify required spare parts and track delivery dates with plant operations.</li><li>Manage contractors during project installation and lead project closeout with Asset Management and Finance.</li><li>Lead project lessons-learned activity and present to management; prepare status reports and updates (MS PowerPoint) for leadership and stakeholders.</li><li>Perform other tasks related to project engineering as needed.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree (B.S. Eng.) from an accredited 4-year college or university.</li><li>Canadian P.Eng. license.</li><li>3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience in a food processing plant or related industry; understanding of engineering principles in manufacturing applications; experience in food processing preferred.</li><li>Experience planning and executing capital projects including budgeting and tracking; experience with technical consultants and construction staff is a plus.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.</li><li>Ability to lead with a focus on results, collaboration, urgency, and conflict resolution.</li></ul><h3>Location & Work Details</h3><ul><li>Location: Portage la Prairie, MB</li><li>Work location: On site</li><li>Salary: Not available</li><li>Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time</li><li>Starts as soon as possible</li><li>Vacancies: 1</li></ul><h3>Source</h3><p>CareersInFood.com • Job Bank posting #1795032</p><h3>Important notice</h3><p>This job posting has been provided by a partner site.
