<p><p>A vacancy exists for a Financial Analyst I. Are you a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) – or a CPA-in-the-making – looking to advance your career? Can you monitor corporate activities and identify ways to improve internal systems and controls? Are you skilled in financial reporting and statistical analysis? If your answer in all cases is an enthusiastic YES, this exciting opportunity in London Hydro’s Financial Services Department is not to be missed.</p><p>Reporting to the Director of Finance, or designate, and as a member of the Accounting Group, you’ll perform various financial and statistical analyses, as well as accounting, and general ledger reconciliations. Leveraging your progressive accounting, auditing and financial analysis experience, you’ll also assist with the budgeting process, the monitoring of actual results to budget, and external audits.</p>
<h3><b>What You Will Do</b></h3>
<ul>
<li><b>Transactions, Reconciliations, and Remittance</b>s: Complete various general ledger and/or OEB reconciliations, journal entries, indirect cost allocations and importing of subsystem transactions. Reconcile and process remittances and annual reporting in connection with various remittances such as T4s, T5s, T4As, EHT, WSIB, OMERS, HST and NR withholdings, IESO.</li>
<li><b>Financial Analysis</b>: Review capital project categories and business unit operating activities, perform analyses, discuss results, and obtain explanations for variances between budget and actual spending. Monitor and analyze cost-centre labour activities including variance analysis and explanation for each business unit as well as at the individual employee and position level. Review and analyze year over year actual capital and operating spending results and development of OEB Program narrative for inclusion in the Cost-of-Service Rate Application.</li>
<li><b>Financial Reporting. Year-end, External Audit</b>: Design, maintain, and complete various financial reports and statistical analyses to support financial results. Assist with the completion of monthly and year-end financial and regulatory reporting as well as year-end process, including completion of working papers and external auditor inquiries.</li>
<li><b>Budget</b>: Assist in the development of capital and operating budgets including creating and revising budget packages, performing analyses and projections, summarizing significant year over year changes, providing explanations and spreading the budget to the appropriate accounting periods and assisting with the preparation of OEB/regulatory budget documents. Liaise with and support assigned business unit contacts during the budget development process.</li>
<li><b>Regulatory</b>: Assist with the preparation of documents and supporting materials for Ontario Energy Board filings and rate applications (on an assigned basis). Compile data, develop spreadsheets and models, and perform analyses to ensure accurate, complete, and well-documented information in support of regulatory submissions.</li>
<li><b>Communication, Documents, and Records</b>: Prepare correspondence and memoranda. Provide information to staff in various business areas. Maintain confidential and general files (digital and hard copy), ensuring that corporate records pertaining to the functional area are organized, maintained, accessible, and retained and/or destroyed in accordance with record retention policy and procedure.</li>
<li><b>Other</b>: Monitor operating, capital asset and balance sheet activities and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and directives issued under IFRS and by the Ontario Energy Board while also accommodating internal financial reporting requirements. Monitor corporate activities to pursue improvements to internal systems and controls. Assist with corporate insurance program renewals and respond to internal/external inquiries. Assist with training of new team members. Assist with testing and implementation of financial software upgrades and enhancements.<br/>Perform other duties related to the above job purpose.</li>

<li>Successful completion of a relevant Bachelors’ degree or diploma in Finance/ Accounting/ Business from a recognized post-secondary institution considered an asset.</li>
<li>Four (4) years of progressive financial accounting, audit support, financial analysis, and budget experience. Knowledge of IFRS and OEB regulatory accounting principles. Proven ability to analyze financial data.</li>
<li>Proficiency in JD Edwards financials (including Hubble).</li>
<li>Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G Suite.</li>
<li>Must have an understanding of the regulatory directives/requirements of the OEB.</li>
<li>Strong analytical and time management skills. Committed to accuracy and detail-oriented.</li>
<li>Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Ability and initiative to work independently and to be proactive.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization.</li>
<li>Position necessitates a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.</li>
<li>Experience / knowledge of the electricity sector and/or regulated entities (an asset).</li>
