<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: $35$45/hour<br /><p>Freelance Bookkeeper Wanted Flexible, Remote-Friendly (Toronto-based preferred)</p><p>Were looking for a detail-oriented, reliable freelance bookkeeper to support our growing business. Youll play a key role in keeping our financials accurate, organized, and up to date. This is a part-time, remote-friendly roleperfect for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys working independently and takes pride in clean, well-maintained books.</p><p><br><br></p><p>Scope of Work:</p><ul><li>Full-Cycle Bookkeeping:<br />Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including overhead transaction entry, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger oversight.</li></ul><ul><li>Accounts Payable (AP):<br />Manage vendor statement reconciliation and payment schedules, and<br />ensure timely and accurate payments. Maintain organized records via Xero for reporting and audit support.</li></ul><ul><li>CRA Filings:<br />Prepare and file HST returns, reconcile against accounting records, and coordinate with our accountant for corporate tax filings and year-end compliance.</li></ul><ul><li>Basic Inventory Accounting:<br />Record manual journal entries for inventory at month-end, support basic inventory reconciliation, and ensure accuracy of cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.</li></ul><ul><li>Month-End Close & Fixed Assets:<br />Complete month-end close processes including posting accruals, managing amortization schedules, and tracking depreciation of fixed assets.</li></ul><ul><li>Payroll & Expenses:<br />Coordinate with the business to collect employee hours, run payroll through our payroll provider, and ensure accurate payroll journal entries and reconciliations. Track reimbursements and maintain up-to-date expense records aligned with CRA requirements.</li></ul><ul><li>EHT & WSIB Filings:<br />Prepare and submit Employer Health Tax (EHT) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) filings, ensuring compliance and timely remittances.</li></ul><ul><li>General Ledger & Financial Reporting:<br />Maintain clean and accurate ledgers. Generate and deliver monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, trial balance), and flag unusual activity or variances for leadership review.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>WhatWere Looking For:</p><ul><li>5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience</li></ul><ul><li>Strong knowledge of Canadian tax, payroll, and regulatory filings</li></ul><ul><li>Proficiency in Xero (Xero Advisor Certification is a plus)</li></ul><ul><li>Diploma in accounting or a Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation preferred</li></ul><ul><li>Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently</li></ul><ul><li>Bonus: Experience with inventory-based or manufacturing businesses</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Hours & Compensation:</p><ul><li>Estimated 1015 hours/week to start</li></ul><ul><li>Hourly rate: $35$45/hour, depending on experience</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>How to Apply</p><p>If this sounds like a good fit, wed love to hear from you.
