Job Description

South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, Ontario requires Hospitalist Locums to support the addition of a new acute care line launching April 1, 2025.

Salary: HOCC stipend of $900 a day. Fee for Service

Position

South Muskoka Memorial Hospital is a 59-bed hospital serving 35,000 local residents and 75,000 seasonal residents. Our tourist population grows to a million in the summer when people take advantage of our lakes and rivers or visit the world-renowned Algonquin Provincial Park.

Description

  • Week-long block of work from Monday 0800 to Monday 0800
  • Choose one week or several
  • Census goal of 15-22 patients a day

Support

  • Shared coverage of all hospital in-patients with a second Hospitalist (excluding the ICU which is covered by Internists and Surgeons)
  • We can pair you with a local physician who is familiar with our EMR and can provide support
  • Local consults are provided by General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Urology, GP Anaesthesia, GP OB, and Palliative Care
  • Psychiatry support is available in the region, mainly from colleagues in Orillia
  • Orthopedics support is available in Barrie, Orillia, and Collingwood
  • On-site laboratory services, CT, Ultrasound, ECHO, X-Ray, Mammography, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy

On-Call

  • Evening call may require coverage of OR Assist

Remuneration

  • HOCC stipend of $900 a day
  • Fee for Service

Incentive

  • We will support you with an accommodation stipend of $125/night, to a maximum of $1000.
  • Our team may be able to assist with housing options – e.g., house sitting, staying at a local MD's house, or reduced hotel rates

Other Opportunities

  • Family medicine clinic opportunities may also be available with the Cottage Country Family Health Team physicians.
