<p><h3>Overview</h3><p><b>Description</b></p><p>Position at Dynacare</p><p><b>Position Title</b><br/>HISTOLOGY Medical Laboratory Technologist</p><p><b>Internal Closing Date</b><br/>Wednesday, Sept 24, 2025</p><p><b>Locations</b><br/>King Edward Main Lab<br/>100-830 King Edward Street</p><p><b>Classification</b><br/>Full-Time Permanent</p><p><b>Department</b><br/>Histology</p><p><b>Compensation</b><br/>As per Collective Agreement</p><p><b>Working Schedule</b><br/>Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm<br/>(75 hours bi-weekly)</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><p>Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease in the Histology lab.</p><h3>Key Accountabilities</h3><ul><li>Retrieve specimens from Specimen Processing and prepare them for accessioning.</li><li>Opens, separates, numbers, and arranges Histology specimens for laboratory examination & processing.</li><li>Sets up and operates laboratory equipment in preparation for processing specimens & for preparing & staining slides.</li><li>Prepares chemical solutions as required.</li><li>Maintain accurate records for all test and control results.</li><li>Performs routine maintenance of laboratory equipment (daily/weekly/monthly) & documents the completion of each task on the appropriate form(s).</li><li>Ensure all equipment is operating and appropriate QC is performed.</li><li>Perform bench work according to daily schedule or as otherwise needed.</li><li>Follow SOPs as per specific department manual for all procedures.</li><li>Demonstrates procedures to newly hired Technologists, Technicians and other staff as necessary.</li><li>Maintains confidential and accuracy of appropriate documents.</li><li>Required to observe all safety precautions in the performance of all duties.</li><li>Maintains a tidy and clean work area.</li><li>Informs Lab Manager or Charge Technologist of all complaints made by physicians or patients.</li><li>Perform other duties as required/assigned.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge Requirements</h3><ul><li>Knowledge: Medical Laboratory Technologist registered in good standing with CSMLS & CMLTM.</li><li>Medical terminology an asset.</li><li>Experience working in Histology preferred.</li></ul><h3>Technical Skills</h3><ul><li>Previous experience with accessioning & processing Histology specimens is an asset.</li><li>Microtomy, embedding and Special stain experience preferred.</li><li>Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.</li><li>Knowledge of Histology is an asset.</li></ul><h3>Social Processing Skills</h3><ul><li>Ability to function in a fast-paced environment & take instruction from senior staff/ supervisor/ manager.</li><li>Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team environment is essential.</li><li>Attention to detail is essential.</li><li>Organizational skills are essential.</li><li>Excellent communication skills.</li><li>Experience in word processing preferred.</li><li>Ability to work independently and within a group environment & be reliable/accountable for duties assigned.</li></ul></p>
