Maintenance Chief Engineer / Operating Engineer

Our client, a leader in the Canadian cold storage and supply chain sector, is seeking a Maintenance Chief Engineer to oversee refrigeration, utility, and facility systems. This is an opportunity to work with advanced systems, lead a skilled team, and contribute to a company recognized for safety, reliability, and innovation.
Requirements - Maintenance Chief Engineer
- Valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate (TSSA)
- 3–5 years in refrigeration/cold storage, food plant, or related environment - in a a chief or supervisory engineering role
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems (ammonia, glycol, Freon), compressors, pumps, HVAC, and electrical controls
- Experience with PLC, HMI, and automation systems (asset)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; maintenance software knowledge is an asset
- Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities - Maintenance Chief Engineer
- Operate and maintain ammonia/Freon refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, cooling towers, air compressors, and related utilities
- Supervise engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with TSSA and OHSA standards
- Develop preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and optimize efficiency
- Support upgrades, capital projects, and budget planning with technical expertise
- Lead workplace safety initiatives and maintain compliance documentation
