Overview

Senior Business Advisor to join our growing team in Victoria, BC. This role partners with Claims West leadership to analyze data, monitor performance, and propose solutions to boost claims performance.

What you’ll do

• Analyze business and operational challenges by conducting independent data analysis of Claims West results and recommending data-driven solutions to business leaders.
• Combine data from various sources to monitor claims data, identify trends, surface root causes, and present information to uncover issues and solutions.
• Create clear, concise data-driven narratives and present to diverse audiences, including executive leadership, using tools like PowerPoint.
• Provide strategic recommendations through executive-level presentations for informed decision-making.
• Lead projects with stakeholders across the Claims West operation to enhance efficiency and support change management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, determine root causes, challenge the status quo, and implement approved modifications.
• Contribute to the creation of detailed business plans and business cases.
• Mentor and coach peers as part of the team, considering Claims West priorities.
• Own recurrent reports created, developed, modified, and produced in Excel, Power BI and other tools using data extraction and manipulation skills.
• Support ad hoc data and reports requests; act as a data resource for day-to-day operations.
• Analyze KPIs, review existing reports, and provide detailed analysis with commentary and trends for the leadership team.
• Leverage insights on industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive edge and drive continuous improvement.
• May participate in the design and establishment of new database environments.

What you bring to the role

• Post-secondary education in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Actuarial studies or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience developing operational reporting and leading moderately complex analyses.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in reporting and data analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel (including Power Query).
• Strong ability to communicate technical analyses clearly; experience presenting complex information to senior leadership.
• Proficiency with programming languages and data management (Power BI, SAS, SQL, Python, VBA, PowerApps).
• Competencies: adaptability, innovation, analytical thinking, decision making, clear communication, planning and organizing, team orientation.
• Ability to plan and execute projects; self-driven, autonomous and solution-oriented.
• No Canadian work experience required but must have authorization to work in Canada.

Salary and benefits

Salary typically ranges from $81,800 to $122,800, depending on experience, skills, and other factors.
