Company Overview
We are a fast-growing, in-house e-commerce company based in Midtown Toronto, specializing in consumer electronics. Our team is focused on scaling online revenue through strong digital performance and exceptional customer experiences. We are seeking an experienced SEO Specialist to join our internal marketing team and take ownership of organic search growth in a highly competitive market.
This is a fully in-office role. Remote workers and contractors will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct keyword gap and competitive analysis using SEMrush to uncover high-impact opportunities within the consumer electronics space.
- Optimize product pages, category pages, and on-site content on a WordPress/WooCommerce platform, with a strong focus on search intent, metadata, headers, and keyword structure.
- Develop and execute a sustainable backlink strategy focused on acquiring high-quality, authoritative links to improve domain authority and organic visibility.
- Collaborate with content and marketing teams to ensure SEO alignment across product listings, blog content, and promotional campaigns.
- Independently implement on-page SEO updates using HTML and WordPress, including metadata, alt tags, internal linking, and content structure—without reliance on a development team.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics such as organic traffic, rankings, engagement, and conversions, translating insights into actionable improvements.
- Stay current with Google algorithm updates, SEO best practices, and emerging tools relevant to e-commerce and consumer electronics.
- Produce regular performance reports covering rankings, traffic growth, backlink progress, and ongoing optimization recommendations.
- Support technical SEO initiatives, including site speed improvements, mobile optimization, and crawl error resolution using WordPress tools and plugins.
Requirements
- 2–3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, ideally within e-commerce or consumer electronics.
- Strong, practical experience with SEMrush, including keyword gap analysis and backlink research (certifications or project examples required).
- Deep understanding of search engine algorithms, on-page SEO, and ethical link-building strategies.
- Working knowledge of HTML and WordPress, with the ability to directly implement SEO changes.
- Experience with WooCommerce or similar e-commerce platforms is required.
- Must be based in the Toronto area and able to commute daily to our Midtown office.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field is preferred, but proven experience is prioritized.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable strategy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
