Job Title: Estimator – Healthcare / Hospital Construction

Job Description

We are seeking an Estimator to support a specialized portfolio of hospital and healthcare renovation projects. This role requires the use of WinEst/Excel-based estimating systems and extensive estimating templates to produce accurate and complete bids for projects typically ranging from $500K to $3M.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Review tender packages, attend site meetings, and generate bid questions (RFIs).
• Issue RFQs to subcontractors, collect pricing, and perform bid leveling.
• Validate subcontractor quotes for exclusions, scope gaps, and missing items.
• Assemble final estimate using templates and adjust unit rates for risk and complexity.
• Support tender close by uploading pricing and required tender documentation.
• Participate post-award in pricing support, such as change orders and execution input.

Essential Skills

• 5–8+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor or similar.
• Strong takeoff accuracy, completeness, and ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of unit pricing, including labor and material, and adjusting unit rates.
• Experience managing subtrade pricing, including RFQs, vetting, and bid close.
• Proficiency with Excel-based estimating systems, with WinEst preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Healthcare/hospital estimating experience is valuable, even 1–2 years.
• Experience with institutional tendering and pre-qualified contractor environments.
• Exposure to infection control and containment considerations in active healthcare settings.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position due to proprietary estimating information, with no remote work option. Site visits are required, involving travel to project sites and client locations. The role offers variety beyond desk estimating, including client and site estimating, as well as some project management-related input. You will join a close-knit operation and be more than just a number. Currently, there are two estimators, and you will be the third, with training provided by the Estimator.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Markham, ON.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $51.00/hr.
