Job Description

<p>We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to act as a strategic partner to the business, delivering HR programs aligned with organizational goals. This role provides trusted advice to senior leaders, manages complex employee relations matters, and drives talent, engagement, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Extensive experience working in unionized environments is required.</p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Provide strategic HR advice, coaching, and support to business leaders in the application of HR policies, practices, and programs across the organization.</li><li>Partner with senior leaders to continuously improve HR processes, tools, and ways of working.</li><li> Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, offering guidance on performance management, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and change initiatives.</li><li>Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, including grievance management, investigations, and disciplinary actions, in collaboration with legal and compliance teams as required.</li><li>Serve as the primary liaison between the business and HR functions, ensuring seamless delivery of HR services.</li><li>Provide strategic leadership on talent management, succession planning, and organizational change.</li><li>Lead the execution of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with business priorities.</li><li>Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement and promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><b>Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is considered an asset.</li><li>CPHR designation or active pursuit of certification is preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 10+ years of progressive HR experience in complex, unionized environments, including senior advisory, consulting, or generalist roles.</li><li>Extensive experience working with unions, including collective bargaining, grievance management, labor relations strategy, and contract interpretation.</li><li>Strong understanding of HR best practices and demonstrated ability to apply them effectively within a business context.</li><li>Highly developed consulting, influencing, and advisory skills to support leaders in executing HR strategies.</li><li>Proven leadership, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities, with experience managing sensitive and complex issues.</li><li>Ability to balance competing priorities while effectively engaging with multiple stakeholders.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships.</li><li>Strategic mindset with the ability to align HR initiatives to organizational goals.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of federal and provincial employment legislation, including the Canadian Human Rights Act, Employment Equity Act, and the Canada Labour Code.</li><li>Customer-focused, results-oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.</li></ul><p></p>
