<h3><b>The Opportunity</b></h3>
<p>We are seeking a skilled and motivated <b>Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer</b> to join our growing Hydrotechnical team. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of hydrotechnical projects, including flood protection, river engineering, stormwater management, and hydraulic infrastructure.</p>
<p>This role involves leading hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, managing field programs, designing water management infrastructure, and providing specialized technical guidance across a wide range of municipal, industrial, and land development projects. The successful candidate will foster strong client relationships while contributing to the continued growth of Ecora’s Hydrotechnical discipline.</p>
<h3><b>Key Responsibilities</b></h3>
<ul>
<li><p>Design and implement comprehensive hydrotechnical investigations, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.</p></li>
<li><p>Lead and manage surface water field programs, including streamflow measurements and hydraulic structure assessments.</p></li>
<li><p>Perform advanced hydrologic modeling (rainfall-runoff, flood frequency) and hydraulic modeling (1D and 2D river systems, culverts, and bridge hydraulics).</p></li>
<li><p>Design water management infrastructure including culverts, bridges, open channels, storm sewers, diversions, and flood protection systems.</p></li>
<li><p>Prepare hydrotechnical reports, proposals, technical specifications, and design drawings related to surface water management.</p></li>
<li><p>Conduct construction reviews and provide field engineering support for hydrotechnical infrastructure projects.</p></li>
<li><p>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, environmental, geotechnical) to integrate hydrotechnical considerations into overall project designs.</p></li>
<li><p>Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.</p></li>
<li><p>Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal water regulations, standards, and permitting requirements.</p></li>
<li><p>Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, maintaining strong professional relationships.</p></li>
<li><p>Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff.</p></li>
<li><p>Contribute to business development activities including proposal preparation, fee development, and opportunity identification.</p></li>
<li><p>Conduct peer reviews of designs, analyses, and reports.</p></li>
<li><p>Apply advanced hydrotechnical software, including HEC-RAS, SWMM, PC-SWMM, WaterCAD/StormCAD, MIKE Urban, and RiverFLO-2D.</p></li>
<li><p>Develop and assess climate change adaptation strategies related to water resources.</p></li>
<li><p>Conduct erosion and sediment control planning and design.</p></li>
<li><p>Evaluate water balances for various developments.</p></li>
<li><p>Participate in training, professional development, and ensure adherence to safety and quality management systems.</p></li>
</ul>
<h3><b>Qualifications</b></h3>
<ul>
<li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources, Hydrotechnical Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s degree considered an asset).</p></li>
<li><p>Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta, or immediately eligible for registration.</p></li>
<li><p>Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in hydrotechnical engineering consulting.</p></li>
<li><p>Strong technical knowledge in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, pipe flow, and open channel flow.</p></li>
<li><p>Proficiency with hydrotechnical modeling software including HEC-RAS, SWMM, PC-SWMM, WaterCAD/StormCAD, MIKE Urban, and RiverFLO-2D.</p></li>
<li><p>Experience in hydrotechnical field investigations, monitoring, and data collection.</p></li>
<li><p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</p></li>
<li><p>Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.</p></li>
<li><p>Client-focused with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships.</p></li>
<li><p>Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.</p></li>
<li><p>Strong commitment to safety, quality, and professional integrity.</p></li>
