The firm supports individuals and families across a range of matters, including family law, real estate transactions, wills and estates, probate, and immigration, with an emphasis on clear communication and dependable follow-through.<br></p><p><b>Role Overview:</b> <b>Role Overview:</b> The Legal Assistant / Law Clerk provides end-to-end administrative and clerking support across the firm's core practice areas (corporate/commercial, wills & estates, and residential/small commercial real estate). This role also serves as a client intake and triage - answering phones, triaging inquiries, and coordinating calendars - while preparing documents from templates, managing deadlines, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a consistent, high-touch client experience.<br></p><p><b> </b><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b><br></p><p><b> </b><br></p><p><b>Corporate/Commercial</b><br></p><ul><li>Prepare and file incorporations, amendments, and name searches; maintain minute books (resolutions, annual filings).<br></li><li>Draft engagement letters, basic agreements (per templates), and closing binders; coordinate signatures and filing deadlines.<br></li><li>Manage corporate records, calendars (AGMs/ARs), and e-registry tasks.<br></li></ul><p><b> </b><br></p><p><b>Wills & Estates</b><br></p><ul><li>Run intake (KYC/ID verification), schedule meetings, manage questionnaires.<br></li><li>Format/draft wills, powers of attorney from templates; assemble signing packages; oversee witnessing logistics.<br></li><li>Open/close files, update precedent libraries, track execution and safekeeping instructions.<br></li></ul><p><b> </b><br></p><p><b>Real Estate (Residential/Small Commercial)</b><br></p><ul><li>Open files; order tax certificates, status certificates (condo), searches; liaise with lenders, brokerages, and opposing counsel.<br></li><li>Prepare closing documents (TR, DoR, undertakings, mortgage instructions) from templates; reconcile trust; assemble closing packages.<br></li><li>Coordinate closings, registrations, discharges, and follow-up reporting to clients/lenders.<br></li></ul><p><b> </b><br></p><p><b>Firm-wide Administration</b><br></p><ul><li>Answer phones/email professionally; triage inquiries; manage calendars and deadlines.<br></li><li>Draft correspondence; proofread for accuracy and compliance; organize e-filing and physical records.<br></li><li>Maintain office supplies; collaborate on process improvements and checklists.<br></li></ul><br>

<b>Qualifications:</b><ul><li>Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law clerk/legal assistant capacity (multi-practice exposure considered an asset)<br></li><li>Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities and excellent proofreading/document production skills.<br></li><li>Strong time management and ability to manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines in a high-volume environment.<br></li><li>Professional, discreet, and client-focused; confident handling confidential and sensitive matters.<br></li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team; proactive communicator who follows through and takes ownership.<br></li><li>Tech-savvy and adaptable (Microsoft Office, PDF/e-signature tools, practice management/e-filing platforms; quick to learn new systems.<br></li></ul>
