Do you want to create memorable experience for children in our community? Apply to be part of our Performing Arts Instructional team<br><br>As a Performing Arts Instructor, you'll be responsible for providing instruction and artistic support to Junior and Senior Performing Arts Program at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, ages 7 – 12 years old, culminating in the presentation of plays to be performed in the theatre at the end of each two-week camp session. This position reports to the Coordinator, Cultural Services (Programming & Outreach).</p><p>Major Job Responsibilities</p><p>Program implementation with a focus on quality customer experiences:</p><ul><li>Ensure a safe and well-supervised learning environment is provided, while encouraging individuals to actively participate</li><li>Provide participants with a program outline for the season (Older Adult programs)</li><li>Facilitate a lecture and or demonstration of an assigned topic at each class</li><li>Ensure daily programming is adapted to all program participant needs</li><li>Receive all parent/participant (as applicable based on programming) concerns and communicate concerns or incidents to supervisor</li><li>Provide sufficient time for participants to work independently and provide one-on-one assistance when required</li><li>Provide guidance and oversight of volunteers</li><li>Establish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants</li><li>Maintain a safe and clean facility including proper usage and use of equipment. Proactively communicate program needs to facility operations staff and communicate any facility or equipment deficiencies to supervisor.</li><li>Evaluate situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks. Communicate any action or concerns to supervisor.</li><li>Maintain communication with customer service desk to provide relevant program updates and to request support in the event of an emergency</li><li>Maintain a high level of professionalism and handle sensitive situations with mature judgement.</li><li>Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act</li></ul><p>Administrative Tasks:</p><ul><li>Develop and prepare a material list and lesson plans to meet the needs of the program and participants</li><li>Modify lesson plans as necessary based on program participant needs</li><li>Provide lesson plans, regular updates and feedback to immediate Supervisor</li><li>Attend all mandatory staff functions: training, meetings and all allocated program times</li><li>Report any accidents, incidents, to the Coordinator, ensuring all appropriate forms are filled out accurately and completed</li><li>Submit required forms (including payroll)</li><li>Maintain accurate attendance and other administrative records as required</li></ul><p>Education & Experience</p><ul><li>Secondary School Diploma</li><li>Minimum of three (3) years teaching/program instruction experience</li><li>Standard First Aid and CPR C</li><li>HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (children's programs)</li><li>NCCP required for sports related programming</li><li>Post-Secondary Education related to specialized field (i.e. visual art, design and/or craft, drama, music, dance) is preferred</li><li>Early Childhood Education Certificate (children's programs) is an asset</li><li>Certifications/workshops in a related field is an asset</li><li>Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent is an asset</li><li>Strong knowledge and aptitude in a specific area of interest/specialized field (e.g. art history, including contemporary practice, languages, music, dance, wellness)</li><li>Familiar with a variety of artistic techniques, practices and materials with one or more of the following interests/skills: painting, drawing, ceramics, pottery, hand building, clay sculpture (Visual Art programs only) or drama, music, choreography, dance, theatre (Performing Art programs only)</li><li>Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>Effective program planning and service delivery skills</li><li>Experience working with targeted age group and persons with special needs is an asset</li></ul><p>Interested applicants should apply online at under Employment/Current Employment Opportunities section.
