<h3>Job Overview</h3>
<p>Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team as Senior Manager, External Reporting and Accounting Policy.</p>
<p>Reporting to the Director, the Senior Manager will ensure compliance with accounting standards and will be responsible for the finalization, preparation, and review of financial reporting and disclosure requirements for annual and quarterly filings as set out by securities commissions or contractual requirements. The role includes producing external financial information such as press releases, annual information form (“AIF”), financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis (“MD&A”) for regulatory bodies, rating agencies, lenders and shareholders in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in complex technical accounting, rate regulated operations and public company reporting. It requires strong process and reporting improvement skills, people development aptitude, and stakeholder partnership.</p>
<h3>Key Accountabilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements, MD&A, News Release, AIF, and other information used for external reporting.</li>
<li>Review and comment on OPG’s and subsidiary annual and quarterly financial statements and MD&A prepared for external reporting.</li>
<li>Review accounting developments and related external analysis; finalize internal analysis and comment letters on exposure drafts.</li>
<li>Review and support implementation of corporate accounting and financial policies that comply with US GAAP.</li>
<li>Work closely with the external auditor to resolve non-routine and complex accounting issues.</li>
<li>Manage the disclosure & controls program supporting CFO and CEO due diligence activities for quarterly and annual certification.</li>
<li>Lead and supervise a team, ensuring performance, adherence to corporate behaviors, and clear communication of objectives.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>University Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting; CPA required.</li>
<li>7+ years experience in public company audits and external financial reporting.</li>
<li>3+ years experience in public accounting firm audits.</li>
<li>Industry experience in Energy, Utilities or Mining highly preferred.</li>
<li>Transaction or accounting advisory experience an asset.</li>
<li>Knowledge of public company regulatory environments (Securities filings, SOX).</li>
<li>Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and complex technical accounting.</li>
<li>Proficiency with IFRS and complex technical accounting issues.</li>
<li>Regulated operations technical accounting experience preferred.</li>
<li>Experience researching and analyzing complex accounting issues and maintaining complex models.</li>
<li>Exposure to internal control environments and control testing.</li>
<li>Experience with creation, implementation and maintenance of global accounting policies.</li>
<li>Preparing technical accounting memos and supporting audit committee material.</li>
<li>Support finance department and senior leadership on emerging accounting and disclosure matters.</li>
</ul>
