This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to design meaningful user experiences, set the tone for design culture, and directly influence the way our products evolve.</p><p>As our founding designer, you’ll be shaping how we approach user research, design systems, and product storytelling across mobile, web, and data-rich environments.</p><p></p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong><p><strong>User-Centered Product Design</strong></p><ul><li> Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) to understand customer needs and pain points. </li><li> Translate research insights into user journeys, personas, and workflows. </li><li> Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs that balance usability, aesthetics, and technical feasibility. </li><li> Define design patterns and contribute to building a scalable design system. </li></ul><p><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration</strong></p><ul><li> Work with Product to explore concepts, iterate quickly, and validate solutions before development. </li><li> Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are implementable, responsive, and consistent across platforms. </li><li> Support Sales and Marketing by creating product collateral (sales decks, sheets, clickable demos) that communicate value to customers and prospects. </li></ul><p><strong>Data Visualization & Complex Interfaces</strong></p><ul><li> Design intuitive ways to present complex datasets, dashboards, and analytics. </li><li> Focus on clarity, interactivity, and storytelling in data-heavy contexts. </li></ul><p><strong>Leadership & Practice Building</strong></p><ul><li>Introduce and champion best practices in UI/UX design (design systems, accessibility standards, usability testing frameworks). </li><li> Educate and guide internal stakeholders on user-centered design principles. </li><li> Lay the foundation for future designers to join and thrive as the team grows.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong><ul><li><strong>3–6+ years</strong> of professional experience as a UI/UX designer (startup or enterprise). </li><li> Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design process: research → wireframes → prototypes → final UI. </li><li> Proven experience in mobile and responsive web applications. </li><li> Hands-on experience with data visualization, dashboards, or analytics tools. </li><li> Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar. </li><li> Excellent communication and facilitation skills — able to bridge product, engineering, and business teams. </li><li> Comfortable taking initiative, making design decisions, and being the voice of design in the company. </li></ul><p></p><strong>Nice to Have</strong><ul><li> Experience in healthcare, enterprise SaaS, or regulated industries. </li><li> Familiarity with design systems, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive frameworks. </li><li> Motion design or micro-interactions expertise to enhance user delight.</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul><li>Health insurance </li><li>Business travel when needed</li><li>3 weeks of vacation </li><li>10 sick days</li><li>Flexible work hours</li><li>Hybrid in Toronto or Montreal</li></ul></p></p>Create Your Resume First
